CHINATOWN: Contemporary Ceramic Painting

This exhibition introduces American audiences to developments taking place in Jingdezhen and shows how Chinese porcelain is transcending the classical blue-and-white decorative motifs for which it had become famous. While the works presented in CHINA Town embody each artist’s reverence for ancient traditions, they also fully embrace modern innovations.

CHINA Town: Contemporary Ceramic Painting from Jingdezhen

We are pleased to announce Jared FitzGerald’s participation in a groundbreaking China-U.S. Culture Project:

CHINA Town: Contemporary Ceramic Painting from Jingdezhen.

Jared has been working on a series of hand-painted ceramics in the city of Jingdezhen for several months. Jared’s work in Jingdezhen is a testament to the tremendous opportunities for cultural exchange in this area and reflects Jingdezhen’s ever-expanding status as a true center of innovation for the art of painted porcelain. Jared is the only non-Chinese artist in the exhibition and will be showing alongside twelve modern Chinese masters of this revered art form.

CHINA Town: Contemporary Ceramic Painting from Jingdezhen, an unprecedented exhibition of porcelain art curated by Meridian International Center (Washington, D.C.) and the Ren Jian Ci Hua Company (Jingdezhen, China), with support from the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, will open to the public on Friday, September 23, 2011.
